Kerrville ISD Technology Vision HomeThis is a featured page

During Spring Break, some interesting national and state initiatives were released that I felt were important enough to share here.

The US Department of Education released its draft of the National Education Technology Plan (NETP)

http://www2.ed.gov/technology - if you want to read the entire plan

The NETP focuses on 5 Key Areas:
1. Learning - providing engaging learning experiences IN and OUT of school
2. Assessment - altering assessment tools toward collaboration, virtual/online assessments and performance
3. Teaching - providing teachers

How are we going to use both? Are they going to be consolidated? If so, who will do that? Do you forsee these becoming mandates?

Have a workshop in SA on the 10th so will miss the guy from Brainpop. Anybody going? Stopped by the Brainpop booth at TCEA and the resources they have for ELL's were pretty amazing. Would love to snag some notes or key info from you if you plan on checking out the rep on the 10th.

Forgot to mention the Study Buddies. They are like game boys with TAKS objective material on them. Pretty cool and easy to change out material. Just like a game boy they have cartridges that pop in the top. And instead of grade levels they are just leveled 1-??? so you could have a 4th grade student working on 2nd grade math and not even know it--or more importantly--his peers would not know it.
